On the top left was my original attempt for a style, I had an idea of breaking a frame with the cards, but each card lacked interest, and they simply were boring. So I began a new stage of research, where I looked at more art styles, changed my initial illustration of the pistol into them, and timed myself on each to know how long they’d take. I then combined some of my favorites from the exercise, which led me to the basis of my design. On the bottom left is what came from that exercise.
